| BG's Stamps Trading List Home > Trading Tips Types of Trading 1:1 basis - trades by equal quantity wantlist - trades based on specific stamps agreed upon, based on a list provided by trader kiloware - bulk trades, usually measured in ounce/lbs/grams/kilograms Types of Stamps used - postally used stamps mint - stamps that are not postally used, still have gums at the back CTO - stands for Cancelled To Order; non postally used stamps but are cancelled (postmarked); usually still has gums commems / commemoratives - specially issued stamps, non-definitive stamps, usually bigger in size defins / definitives - common stamps that are used on a daily basis all year round, usually smaller in size General All traders should : - never include damaged stamps (torned / missing corner or perforations / folded / greased) - never include CTO stamps (unless agreed upon) - if it's a commems only trade, do not count defins as part of the trade (unless agreed upon) - no duplicates; all stamps should be different (unless agreed upon) - be clear on all trades on your wants and offers We understand some damaged stamps may unintentionally included as part of the trades. That's why always add extra stamps into the trade for such cases. If you are not sure or new in trading, always ask first. Example : Here's my offer & want : Offer : used Australia Want : used Spain Trade on 1:1 basis in packet of 50, no defins. Explanation : The above means the trade would like to receive 50+ used stamps of Spain and will send 50+ used stamps of Australia. All stamps must be commemoratives stamps. No duplicates, no CTOs and no definitives stamps should be included in this exchange. You will get good feedback by following the above guidelines. Failing to do so might get you blacklisted and no one will ever exchange stamps with you again. Be honest in your trades and your collection will growth rapidly. This part is mainly for Advanced Traders. Preliminary Phase Agree on which catalogue will be used as the basis of exchange. Agree that the one who responds to ad, or initiates exchange to send first. Agree that any stamps that don't meet receivers criteria can be returned. Agree to establish a Tally Sheet to carry balances forward, and balances not to exceed deficit of 10% of individual exchange. Agree that all stamps sent are to be free of defect unless noted. Agree to limit value of first exchange, perhaps to a nominal $50.00, and to increase in subsequent exchanges incramentally. Have Lists are submitted by both parties The one to receive first, picks items from other's. Have List to the agreed first sending value. The one to send first sends stamps, tally sheet and includes note with address, email address and list of stamps wanted in exchange. On receipt the other exchange partner informs the other of sending's safe arrival and has 3 days to follow up with his sending, updating the Tally Sheet included. |
